What is Structured Data (Schema.org)?

Structured Data is a method of providing information in a standardized format so that search engines can better understand the content of web pages. Written in JSON-LD (JavaScript Object Notation for Linked Data) format based on the Schema.org vocabulary, it is used by major search engines like Google and Bing to display Rich Results. Adding appropriate structured data exposes rich information such as ratings, prices, and FAQs in search results, significantly increasing click-through rates (CTR).

Frequently Asked Questions

JSON-LD script tags can be placed inside the <head> or <body> tags of an HTML document. Google recognizes both locations, but placing them inside the <head> tag is generally recommended. A single page can also contain multiple structured data entries.

Structured data itself is not a direct ranking factor, but it makes your content more visible in search results through rich results (ratings, FAQ, prices, etc.). This leads to improved click-through rates (CTR) and indirectly has a positive impact on SEO. It also helps search engines understand your content more accurately.

Choose the type that matches your page content. Use Article for blog posts or news articles, FAQPage for frequently asked questions pages, and Product for product pages. LocalBusiness is suitable for offline stores, and HowTo for step-by-step instructions. You can use multiple types on a single page.
